Since 2011, SHTOX has made crystal glasses that turn on their own base. Set one down, touch it, and it spins, steady and balanced, until it comes to rest.
The base
The underside of each glass is shaped so that only its centre meets the table. The outer edge stays a fraction of a millimetre clear, which is all it takes for the glass to turn. The shape is protected by an international patent.
The crystal
Tumblers and wine glasses are made from lead-free crystal at the Nachtmann factory in Germany. The shot glasses come from Bohemia Machine in the Czech Republic. Every piece is finished by hand.
